I thought it was quaint. It was also great in taste.

Nice ambience, always delicious meat from the stone. A little over my budget, but something nice for special evenings.

Delicious food, steak from the hot stone and baked potatoes is the specialty, rustic ambience, very recommendable.

Nice old restaurant. Great food. Steaks are served on hot stones. You really have to try it. The restaurant comes highly recommended.

Very tasty food for meat lovers as well as for vegetarians and vegans. The decor is nice and rustic.

Not recommended ! Cutting the fillet head in a hot stone? But the carpaccio is bought ready-made and sprinkled with grated parmesan from the supermarket bag. There may be 3 drops of oil on it. There is someone in the kitchen who has no idea about cooking. The aim here is to achieve maximum profit with minimal effort.

We stopped by by chance many years ago. We liked the steak on a hot stone so much that we have eaten here again and again since then, whenever we make our way there. Top!

Amazing as always!!!! This time due to Corona we sat outside were now some tables can be found. The meal was amazing as always! The staff, nice and professional also as always. In resume, Die Kartoffel never disapoints me! And of course we will return again!

The food was ok. The service underground. Completely indifferent, clothes as if they had just come from the field. Pillows to sit on would be an advantage. After sitting for an hour, your large muscle hurts so much that you actually call for the bill. What a shame!!

This is my favorite place to eat when I'm in Germany. I've been here now a few times, and I've since looked for similar places and unfortunately have nothing close to Die Kartoffel. The potatoes are absolutely delicious with that sour creamey topping goodness, and then aren't even as good as the meat. For some reason, I really enjoy getting a raw cut of steak, and being able to take it off right when I think it is ready. For the sauces, I only actually like the red one, but damn if it isn't a super delicious dipping sauce. It is a bit pricey, but if your anywhere close come visit. The town is also a really cool historic old town with authentic architecture and dates of the buildings right on them. Plus the staff we've had every time has been awesome.

What a lovely place! With vegan option, lots of friendliness and unpretentious but pleasurable dishes. The staff are helpful and very kind. A must in this magnificent village.

Always a great family or friends experience!! It does get a little hot in there, for obvious reasons..

COELIAC SAFE RATING: *** A different restaurant experience where you cook your meat to your liking at your own table. This is a good experience as long as you know how to cook! The standard menu is a starter salad with some dressing, meat served on a hot lava stone with a baked potato with sour cream sauce. A simple but filling menu un a 13th century building. Staff nice and friendly.

An absolute recommendation Super super delicious. For the second time here. I had the small portion of fillet and my companion had the mixed hot stone platter. The meat is of high quality. Homemade delicious sauces. Salad great. The potato as a side dish is floury, but still delicious. Service very friendly and accommodating, although they had a lot to do at the beginning. We will probably be repeat offenders despite a 100km journey. I even got ice for my aching wrist including a drip cloth

Amazing traditional restorant in an old House, where you could feel like in Middle ages. Nice food with Potato and Quark.

The best part of my trip to Germany. Such a fantastic place with delicious food and cozy setting. Definitely plan a meal here during your visit to the area :)

Absolutely fantastic! Quite possibly the best steak I have ever had. Served on a red hot stone so you cook it to how you want it. If you are in the area you cannot pass this place without giving it a try. You will not be disappointed 👍👍

You'd be pushed to find a more typical German restaurant (except for the fact that the staff were very friendly and chatty, which isn't always the case with such establishments.) The meats were excellent and a good salad served with them. Yes, the place does live up to its name, meals served with a baked potatoe and (for some, too much) cream filling.

Carelessly done fast food at overpriced prices, the outdoor terrace is not recommended because you are confronted with the foul odors of the kitchen, saves you the money and stays at home and eat a sandwich. The many positive reviews are incomprehensible !!!!

The steak on the hot stone was excellent, and it came with a great salad and a potato covered in a cream sauce that was every bit as good. Server spoke good English and the menus had English on them as well so it was a great choice for us.
